It's only a twenty-five seater but this is what I like about small restaurants because the focus is on the food and not much else. The "shed" concept is given a chic and modern touch because this is up-market Mosman after all. Exposed brick and white board cladding are complemented by a ladder mounted onto the ceiling where tin lamps hang.

Al fresco dining, Hunters Hill Hotel. On a glorious Friday afternoon, the al fresco dining area is sun-soaked and I spy promotional leaflets for a cracker of a Melbourne Cup Day next week. It’s noon and the lunch crowd is beginning to gather.

We are in the midst of winter but sitting in Boathouse’s dining room and gazing out into the blue waters feel like a warm summer day. We are happy to admire the warm and sunny table for two at the corner which remains empty.

It’s a mere five-minute drudge up the hill from Clovelly beach or if you prefer, it’s a four-minute stroll down the hill to Clovelly beach. Whichever way you choose, The Clovelly Hotel at the eastern end of Clovelly road is just a beer away from the beach. A recent refurbishment to its outdoor beer garden with district water views provides another incentive to knock back a cold one.

It’s no surprise R & B has plans to open more outlets across Sydney and Melbourne in the coming year judging by its popularity. I believe it’s their consistency in quality, taste and service in a pleasant dining space that is enticing its fans to return.

Ribs & Burgers at Neutral Bay ~ a blackboard menu sums it all up with a choice of beef, pork or lamb in the ribs department. Burger variations include original beef, cheese, bacon, Dagwood and Mexican whilst non-red meat eaters can opt for lemon herb, chilli or Cajun chicken burgers.
